HI

So this blog post is being done my none other than a Mr. Andrew Miles. While Tyler is vacuuming. Hopefully he doesn't notice. This is quite hillarious actually. I could say a lot of stuff about this man that the world at large doesn't know........ oh the facts that I could tell..................
Oh well, I'll will give him the respect he deserves, and not tell everyone about a certain Christmas present. Teehee! Now what? What am I supposed to put here anyway? I can play an ocarina.

You're Coming Home - A Song of Death

Pillars of smoke rose into the grey twilight from many areas of the fields. Too many pillars to count with only your eyes. The scent of burning flesh bombarded every surviving man. The survivors were searching the fields for every last body. None should, or would, be left for the carrion eating crows. Body of friend and foe alike were tossed into the blazing infernos, their ashes lighting the dark blue sky. As the corpses were gathered others attended to those who had been wounded in the medic camp. One wounded and dying soldier began to chant in a raspy but powerful voice.

"The sky is crimson
with the blood of our dead.
The earth doth shudder
for that which was shed."

The wounded man coughed; a red spew appearing on his torn jacket. He regained as much of his composure as he could muster and continued with other voices joining in his mournful song.

"For death is calling,
calling from our graves.
The black mists whisper;
for us, it craves."

A thin stream of blood began to run from the man's mouth. He took a deep breath. His voice began again, but was drowned out by the mass of other voices rising from all parts of the fields.

"The dark hand, grasping,
pulls me close.
And to me utters,
'you're coming home,'"

The man let out his dying breath, his last song still upon his lips. All the men on the fields were now singing; finishing the hallowed tune that he would never complete.

"'Back to that brightness
from whence we came,
back to the luster
where all is same.'"

The Fruits of my Thought

So, in my many ideas that I have had, a few specific characters continue to show up in my stories. These characters are essences, not actual named figures, but they all seem to play a part in my ideas. The main three usually show up as follows: Tyrus, Dark, and Storm. They may not always come under the same name, but the emotional sides of the characters are always present.

Tyrus:
Tyrus is most commonly seen in the form of Ezekiel Tyrus, whom you have all met twice. He always shows up as a kid of noble birth who ends up losing everything to some unstoppable and evil force. He then swears his revenge and goes on a super long quest to regain that which is his (this may be his dignity, home, or woman). He always does things in the name of goodness and is your everyday awesome protagonist. He has appeared under the names of Max, D.C., and the ever famous Ezekiel Tyrus.

Dark:
Dark is a bit of a change from the oh so average Tyrus. He takes on a bit of a different approach to goodness. Dark is always characterized by possessing some horrible power that he uses for good. The only problem being that the people he is trying to save hate his guts. He usually has a small band of a few followers and he always fights against "the light." That may sound bad, but in these stories the light is always a oppressive leader who uses the innate goodness of light to make himself look like a good guy when really he is a crazy evil guy who is trying to destroy stuff. Dark's stories are also characterized by bittersweet endings. He usually ends up a martyr for his cause. Dark has only appeared in stories under the name Dark.

Storm:
Storm cannot accurately be described as a protagonist. He is completely rouge. He is characterized by his genius nature and, if power is involved, a distinct taste for lightning. The character of Storm is based around mechanics. He builds machines of grand and epic nature that are usually extremely far-fetched. He fights for what he wants and to survive in his ever changing surroundings. Storm has shown up in stories under the names Storm, Randall (as the antagonist to Dark), and even D.C. (also like Tyrus).

Well, they are only a few of the ideas I have, but more will be posted. If you want to hear any of the stories about these guys, just contact me. I will gladly post some on the blog.

The Hobbit

It had to be posted... It just had to be.

I must watch this movie.

Too bad it comes out in... a year. :P

Anyway, if ever you feel the need to watch Alvin and the Chipmucks: Chipwrecked. My advice to you is to find a better movie. You won't miss out on much if you don't watch it.

The Story of a Vacationer

I may be the most happiestest man in the world. :D This vacation, in the beginning, was going to be a time where I worked, partied, and did homework. Then the unspeakably awesome happened. I got most of work of for the vacation. I just need to remember to do my homework. That will be the hard part. My teachers were a bit crazy this year and I have to do a giant art project and two English papers. I will survive, of course, but it is still homework. Anyway, in the meantime, I will enjoy my life to the fullest of its potential: sitting around, sleeping in, staying up late, partying like a boss, and all the other stuff that comes with vacations. Plus I am listening to extremely loud Celtic music. Nothing beats extremely loud Celtic music.

Today is a weird day. It is Christmas Eve, but I'm not feeling it. I have been delivering treats and stuff for the last few days, trying to get into the Christmas Spirit, but the feeling isn't coming. It will probably come next week. At new years. That'll be my luck. :) Wait, whats this? My Celtic music just became Japanese Traditional. Just as good, in my opinion. Their harp work is boss. Am I the only one who has ever wanted to learn how to play the harp. That would be awesome. Along with the ocarina. :) Maybe someday.

Today is so relaxing. I actually took some time to clean today. I haven't even had time to clean in a while. This relaxing day will end soon, of course. No Christmas Eve is ever a safe day at my house. They always end up with movies, extended family, and a few off color jokes (that and the extended family are a bundled package, you can't get one without the other).

Andrew is coming down next week. That will be a party. Hopefully someday soon I can return to PG and party there, but that will have to wait.

Anyway, I must return to the madness.

Mini Wheats

I have recently conducted an experiment. It went like this.

  • Problem:
    • I didn't know the average number of frosted mini wheats in my average sized bowl.
  • Hypothesis:
    • There were probably about 45
  • Experimental Data:
    • Day 1 - 57 mini wheats
    • Day 2 - 60 mini wheats
    • Day 3 - 58 mini wheats
  • Conclusion:
    • There are approximately 58 point something mini wheats in my average sized bowl. I underestimated how many possible mini wheats could fit into my bowl.

Ezekiel Tyrus: Origins

The honor guard marched through the city, heading up a somber procession. The march that everyone knew would come, but dreaded with all of their hearts. The citizens stood to either side of the street with heads bowed. Mothers hushed their lively children as the cheerless parade neared. Some, looking from windows, turned their heads away, trying not to let their anger and disappointment show. The only sound came as deep thrums from the heart of the colossal drums. The smells of the city: smoke, herbs, and dust took on a more dank and musky form.

One tear streaked and dirty face burst out of the street-side crowd and planted herself in front of the procession. The man at the head of the procession, Crios A'Tuana, the Heruin Grand-Master's Head enforcer of law, stalked slowly towards the girl, letting out a low chuckle. His laugh rose to hysteria as he took hold of her grimy shoulders and thrust her from the street and continued the march.

Ezekiel Tyrus Kingson crouched on the rooftop overlooking the march. His hands hovered over the handles of his swords. His father's kingdom had been taken by these men. He had to do something about it. The Grand-Master was a tyrannical dictator. Tyrus did not want life under that kind of being to be the fate of his people. A'Tuana wouldn't expect an attack from a kingdom that he had just taken over.

Tyrus stood, drawing his slightly curved blades. The sun glinted off of his silver chest plate. A'Tuana caught sight of the boy on the roof. His eyes widened with surprise and recognition. Tyrus raised his right hand above his head and shouted.

"For the true king of the Anamaer!"

Soldiers emerged from every shadow and crevice; soldiers wearing the red capes of the Anamear guard. A'Tuana surveyed the situation. He looked to Tyrus and spoke.

"You win, Tyrus. Of course you win. That is the way we meant it to happen."

A'Tuana's words came with a shiver to Tyrus. What did they mean? Why was he supposed to win?

A'Tuana began to laugh again.

The Unusually Usual Run of Things

Vacations

I just went on vacation. Or at least it felt that way. I had three days in a row off. That can't be natural. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, all off. I worked today, but it was easy. No one wants to eat ice cream when it is negative ninety-eight... or somewhere around there. It was great fun.

I am still on the brink of deciding not to save up to go to Europe. Please send feedback on this. Should I go or not?

Snowmen

So, recently I spent some time building a snowman. This snowman (Joe) was created by my family and the Jordans. He was really awesome. We made him at the ball park, but moved him to the side of the road when we were done with him. He wasn't very big, but via proportionistic magic, we made him seem big (he had a big heart).

Journalism

I have been assigned to write a story about the holidays... That is a pretty broad subject, if you ask me. How do I find a specific angle on a story in that mess of ideas? I will figure it out. But I also have to come up with an idea for the truck bust (large graphic spread over the center two pages of a newspaper) that will house my story. A holiday truck bust........ Meh.

Enya, of Course :)

Just so you know... I'm still listening to Enya. Christmas Enya. :)

Ezekiel Tyrus

More on him soon. Stayed tuned for the next chapter in the Ezekiel Tyrus saga, Ezekiel Tyrus: Origins.

Tyler, to the Post-Mobile! DA-NUH!

I haven't posted in a while, and I have little time so this will be quick, and newsy. :)

1. I lost my wallet. If you find it, please return to me with all money intact.

2. I almost bought the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, but I lost my wallet. :P

3. I don't seem to be working quite as much anymore.

4. I is low on moneys... :P

5. Life is good. (as always)

So there I was...

I was walking through the parking lot. Every space was occupied. Cars were spilling onto the streets, parked in the most unnatural spots. I ducked under the yellow tape and walked through the doors. I had never seen so many people in one place before. I mean, come on, this is Sanpete. It feels like there are about fifty people living in the entire valley. Anyway, I made my way through the crowds, looking for people I knew. Everyone was crowded around the plastic covered products as though they were pure gold. After I found my group, we placed ourselves strategically throughout the building in an effort to gain the advantage. When the time came, the world seemed to end. Plastic was ripped, hands were flying, and there was nothing I could do but reach in and grab what I could. The place was a madhouse. Death was imminent, but I managed to shoulder my way out of the beastly crowd. I made my way to my chariot (cart) and rode through the crowd towards the lines. The wait was near unbearable, for I had to do it twice, but I had fun. :)

Ice cream o' the day:

Graham crackers made into ice cream... that's all there is to say. :)

A Choice

I had the choice: Chocolate, caramel, marshmallow, more chocolate, and more caramel vs chocolate, marshmallow, and sweet tasty brownie chunks... I debated, fought, consulted my co-workers. In the end, I made my decision. I chose... raspberry!

5

Only five more... come on, you guys can make it!!!

From the Journals of Ezekiel Tyrus

On the Run:

The light passed over the bushes. Was my cover blown? No; it moved to a different area. But the van slowed to a halt. The light shut off and I saw the door open. As the door slammed shut I rolled farther into the bushes, using their noise to cover my own. A man wearing jeans walked around, looking through the bushes. I controlled my breathing. Any noise could give me away now. The man in jeans walked down the street a bit. He couldn't find me, so he returned to the van. They moved down the street to where they thought Gatlin must be hiding. I waited for the house next to me to come between the van and I. When it did, I took off full speed down the street in the other direction towards the main road. As I jogged down the sidewalk of the street, I could see their searchlight looking around from across the block. As I walked in towards the Maverick, the searchlight beamed through the yards and shined right on me. The van slowed. I ran behind the car wash and waited. No sign of the van. I made my way around the car wash and hid behind the dumpsters. The van pulled around the corner and stopped next to the bins. There was no way I was escaping this time. My only chance was if the man in the jeans didn't get out this time. And he didn't. They drove away, leaving me huddled in the darkness. I made my way down the street where I was reunited with Gatlin and the others. We were ghosting our way across the city park when I saw the lights of the van coming down the street. I yelled at everybody to get moving as I ran full speed down the hill to the tennis courts with Gat right on my heels. I had made it this far and I wasn't going to get caught now. Gat and I sprinted across the street and through Josh's property. As we rounded the corner of the opera house, the van came down the street behind us. But we had made it. We reached our destination without getting caught. We were victorious!

Would you like some FAIL to go with that?

I just decided to throw in a quick post about our the newspaper. First things first, this paper was a complete failure compared to almost all other issues.  I am sorry to everybody who read and disliked.  But, we will be posting all the stories online so if you want to visit at www.nstimes.us, it will be a lot better there.  Our layout was pretty sad, a small bit of that was my fault. Anyway, don't judge us. Failing is not a purposeful thing.

"Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness... Check"

I just realized something AWESOME! Despite all opposition, I find myself living the good life. At first, I thought that being as busy as I am would wear me down to a snappy lad, but I now realize that having no free time makes all my time free time... That didn't make any sense. What I mean is, by losing myself in work, I have found myself. Right now my legs are sore, I am way under on sleep hours, I am covered in ice cream stains, and my back hurts too much to move  Right now I know that I am living in the prime of my life, I have great friends (both near and far, close and acquaintance,) I am making money like there is no tomorrow, and I am on a spiritual high. There is a reason my name is Glad. I feel like I am where I am supposed to be.

I've also decided to start describing my favorite ice cream flavors.
Coconut Joy: Ice cream that tastes like eating heaven.  It was made in the 1984 effort to find an ice cream that tasted exactly like Almond Joys.  Coconut Joy was voted the best over other popular flavors such as Almond Madness and Coco-Joy.  It has the distinct flavor of coconut built into the very ice cream itself. A generous amount of chocolate is swirled through. Almonds are added to taste. Viola! Tastiness in the extreme.
(This is at least 50% true.)

Stay tuned for more flavor descriptions. :)

Ezekiel Tyrus - Student, Journalist, Leader of the Rebellion

I found a new name that will represent my super coolness (or believed super coolness) in the flesh. Ezekiel Tyrus is the name I chose.  I chose this because my real name is Ezra Tyler.  Ezekiel Tyrus is a representation of my name, just with a cooler Roman sound to it.  To go along with this name I have created a persona.  This character is like me in almost every aspect of the sense.  The only large difference is the fact that this guy goes on crazy awesome adventures.  He leads rebellions, fights ninjas, and lives life as a mild mannered high school student all at the same time.  I have decided that every once in a while, a post in this may be dedicated to this guy.

I am actually doing layout now.... Layout night is tomorrow, but we are trying to get as far as we can before the horror dawns upon us.  The beautifully delicious horror that will kill us all.  That description made it sound like drugs. It isn't drugs. Though the cookie I am eating now may be. It tastes a little off.

I realize that I haven't talked about work a lot lately.  I guess it's about time to make an update.

Work is great. I have found that working more hours means more money. That is something that I really love.  Having money in the bank is great.  Making bank is great.  So I find myself working more and more. I also find myself enjoying it.  The best part is my co-workers.  They make me laugh.  I guess I make them laugh too.  :)

Time to get to work. Adios.

On Nooooo!

I discovered the absolute best website ever. It is called the instant no button, and it is exactly what it sounds like.  Hit the button, hear the long, drawn out nooooooooo!!!!

In other news, I am typing this post at school.  Luckily I have found a way to sometimes access blogger while at school.  The moon must be aligned correctly and the stars must create a Rogle-Lovenhurst projection. (I have no idea what I'm saying...)  In other words, I need my teacher's login, but that isn't very hard to get.  I am actually in advisory right now, but we were supposed to go to an assembly, but I didn't take the test that the assembly was about, so I decided to come in here instead.  I find myself surrounded by the dreaded freshmen. (I looked up the literal definition for nooble online. It didn't disappoint.)  They keep looking over my shoulder to see what I'm doing.  It makes me feel awkward.

My new laptop is actually working out very well.  I love using it.  I can do so many things. I feel... connected.  Like I am part of some giant social network of life.  This blog helps contribute to that feeling. Except for the fact that nobody will get me up to 100 pageviews. I tried, I waited, and you guys failed me. My faithful readers have failed me.  98 is a sad number when compared to 100, but just you wait. This will continue to grow more and more.  So you guys may have lost your chance for a epic 100th pageview post, but 200 is a good number too, so when that day comes be prepared.

I ended the quarter with a 4.0... I tried my hardest to get a 3.9, but I have failed.  I had my one A- and at the end of the quarter it changed back to an A... I have failed.

Celebrating the Not 100th Pageview!

Well the plan today was to commemorate my 100th pageview.  Sadly, I still sit at a steady 97. So the real post will have to wait.

Be prepared...

It

will

be.....

Aftermath

I just have to say, that was one crazy day.  Halloween has always been a bit over the top for my family, but this year we mellowed it out. It still didn't feel mellow.  I dressed up as a member of Nudists on Strike. (NOS) I went to school with a bag of about fifteen signs saying, "I am a Nudist on Strike," on them.  All of my friends who didn't bring a costume were given one of these signs.  I have to attribute the idea to Elizabeth. She came up with the nudist on strike, I just made it into an organization of about fifteen prestigious members.  That was the best part.  I may have gotten a few chuckles if I was the only one wearing one of these signs, but the flippinosity was increased ten-fold by the fact that the signs were all over the school.  Everywhere you were there was someone with one of these signs.  It was fantastic, until my sign was stolen by a plebe.  But it was still great.

I also watched Captain America yesterday. The Easter eggs in it made me laugh.  Everything they did directly related to things that happened in other movies. It was a little bit weird.  I also got to eat a lot.  I ate all of Julie's candy corn.  I just found the bowl and before I knew what had happened it was most of the way gone.  I am definitely feeling that this morning.  I am probably going to have to sleep a bit at school today. Even though I went to bed at ten, I spent so much energy that I can barely even walk on this fine morning.  I have work again today, too.  I haven't been since Friday.  That was a long time ago. I miss the taste of ice cream. Mostly butter pecan. Mmmm... That's the good stuff.

Europe is looking pretty far away.  Every time I think I've saved some money, something comes up; expenses that I did not plan for.  And I bought a pink tie. That wasn't exactly needed. Well, yes it was. I didn't have a tie that matched my super cool blue shirt.  So I bought one.  That's my excuse.

Anyway, I'm goin' to school now.

The Painting of a Room and Other Touching Tales

Well, my grandparents are moving in today.  They haven't arrived yet, but my little brothers are up north helping them pack and the older kids are at home. Now that may sound nice, but the older kids (I am one of these) are at home.... painting the room that my grandparents are going to live in.  I had no idea how labor intensive painting a room was. Luckily, it was super fun (for most of it.)  We painted the walls and each other, listened to Enya (I just can't stop listening to Enya,) and joked around.  After that we did a bit of clean up just to get ready.  This was definitely my least favorite part.  After that Red, Ellie, and I went to McDonald's. I got two Spicy McChickens and a mango smoothie.  I love mango smoothies. They are  by far the best smoothie possibly bought.  After McDonald's we took Red home and Ellie and I headed to Walmart (or as my family knows it, SmallFart.) We bought some stuff and headed home. That's where I am now.  So after giving a synopsis of my day I provide for you a touching story that I recently read on Facebook.

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book. Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL. How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Please share this :)

I really like that story, kinda describes life really well. :)

Computer Get!!!

Well, this is my first post that I am sending from my own personal laptop. This is one of the most exciting days of my life.  After school today I came home and my mom mentioned that they were having a surplus sale at the district offices.  I had already been to one of these, where I bought a pretty nice computer for the mere price of twenty-five dollars. I convinced my mom to come with me to this one, for I have been looking for some speakers for a time. When we arrived we found that they were selling some great laptops... Like super great. This one was only eighty dollars. Definitely worth it. But that's not all. I then bought a forty-eight port router (LAN party!!!!) for ten dollars and two keyboards for free.  I hit the jackpot. This laptop runs like a madman on a sugar rush.  It makes me happy.

In other news, I participated once again in one of my favorite freshman activities.  I was TAing fourth when I realized that it was class debate day.  I asked if I could join in and permission was granted.  So, I argued with plebes and wound myself up so tightly that I could have destroyed one of them. It was probably bad for me, but whatever. It made me laugh.  The freshmen are so awesome this year.  I don't think I have met a lame freshman yet... wait scratch that, I have, but most of them are pretty awesome. And they can argue really well (though nowhere near as well as I can.)

Wait.... YAY!!! Juliansmith.tv is back online. After about a week of anger they have returned... They may have no new videos posted, but who cares.  Its up! W00t! I have even reverted to speaking in partial l33t for this.  That is how excited I am... but now the excitement dies. Well, I'm still a happy man. Did you know that juliansmith.tv uses Wordpress, the same program we at the NS Times use to run our website.  Pretty cool in my opinion.

So, check out our website at nstimes.us, no www. needed.

On Lemons.... and Julian Smith

When life gives me lemons... I find myself making a lemon pie with graham cracker crust and a plentiful layer whipped cream on top.
Actually... That is almost the truth. The metaphor that I am trying to get across is this: I may be one of the busiest guys I know, but I have a generous helping of fun times to keep me running strong.  Mostly, keeping busy keeps me running. I don't have time to be tired.  I will explain.

I wake up in the morning, go to school, and find myself doing homework... that is due first period. (winning!) Luckily, I dodge that bullet using SparkNotes, one of the greatest inventions ever created.  I go to first, do what I must (and get full credit for it) and continue on to flex. There I engage myself in a battle to the death against Dakota. We fight for about fifteen minutes, and as always, get pwned by the words, "Check Mate." On to second period, where I watch a movie and waste time. Next I go to math... oh dreaded math. We will skip over this part. Then comes lunch. I eat a chicken sammich, deliver some technology for my mom, and laugh with my friends. Just before fourth I learn of a stash of stray chicken sammiches and find myself toting two of them into fourth, where I T.A. for journalism. The plebes (derogatory term for freshmen, see also nooblet or nooble) in his class were very surprised by my epicness. Who else walks into fourth period with two chicken sammiches? Plus, I happen to be a junior, which helps a bit with my standing among our resident plebes. I than research for my next story. After school I go to the UB meeting. Very long, a wee bit boring, but nonetheless, interesting. I head to the library, give Levi a ride home, and find myself at home with nothing to do but get on Facebook... and blog.
You may think that is the end, but alas, tis never the end. At six I and many others are going to prepare for the arrival of my grandparents. So we must engage in hard labor for the remainder of the night. Luckily, there will be pizza involved, and as the great quote goes, "Where there's some food, there's a way." At least, I think that's how it goes.... But it will be fun.
Moral of the story, life is good for all the time.

In other news... juliansmith.tv is down.  I miss Julian. He better be doing something epic. I love all of his videos. They make me laugh. And his songs, well, his songs get stuck inside my head. (That was a great pun, if anyone noticed.)

Anyway.... Adios, the time has come for me to finish this post, and it will be done.

The Daily Life of a Working Teenager

Houston... we have a problem. I have no life.  I seem to either be at school or working. I rarely have anything to do in between.

So here's how it goes down on a daily basis. I get up in the morning. Get ready for school. All is well. I leave soon after my mother and drive myself and my younger sister to the high-school, which is about fifteen minutes away. I than engage in journalistic and educational activities. These last until school begins. I go to my classes, eat lunch, play some ping-pong or tennis, and the bell rings.  I talk to people after school. This lasts about forty minutes. I then head over to the friendly neighborhood Shave N Cream. I work there until ten or eleven at night, and head home.

So that's my daily life (although exact details may vary slightly).  The only problem is, did anyone notice a time to hang out in that synopsis?  I am beginning to realize that the answer "I have work that day." is a lose-lose situation. Neither side is happy with the answer.  I am finding that I actually.... enjoy.... going to school.  The truth is, thats the only time I have to really hang out with my friends and acquaintances.  It has become my place of solitude.

But then again, maybe this whole work thing isn't all bad.  If I didn't work this hard, I wouldn't be able to drive to school, I would have to throw away all dreams of heading to Europe, and I would not have all of this extra cash floating around in my wallet. ;)

So... I guess i'll live, and squeeze in all the partying I can. :) But in the meantime, I'm nearly rich, and all my friends are stuck scraping by on their parent's funds. :)

First time on the blog.... (Did you get it... blog sounded like job... nevermind) :)

In the beginning:

So... this is how it all began... I was on facebook today when I saw that Andrew had posted yet another blog post. I decided to check it out and after reading found that I could comment on it. So, naturally, I did. But it made me sign up to leave my message. I did that, too. But then it asked if I wanted to create a blog of my own.  That was the beginning of the end. Now I find myself typing a blog, listening to Enya, and chatting on facebook... all at the same time.  I really don't know exactly what to write. Maybe I should talk about my life. Here goes:

Europe:

So I have recently decided to start saving up to go on a trip to Europe after my senior year.  My journalism teacher decided to take a few students and parents. He thinks that Greece and Italy are our possible destination. I think that would be awesome. But then came the number crunching. After a few minutes of headache, I emerged victorious (as always). I realized that if I were to save a sizeable chunk of every paycheck until then, I could scrape by. The trip is supposed to cost 3000+ dollars. That is a large sum. But for Europe, definitely worth it. Definitely.  Now I just have to start saving.  Wish me luck.

Journalism:

I am managing editor in my journalism class. The only problem with that is this is the year we may actually die from insufficient funding.  We are doing all in our power to print, but the fact of the matter is, we may have to go all online.  Jacob has been working intensely on creating a working website, and he succeeded. Now all we have to do is post up the stories and the site will be fully functional.  If you were to go there now you would find that the only story up was written by yours truly. But that is because I am the only one who has taken interest in this new development in our journalism class. So i guess that I am excited and not excited for the fall of the journalism class.

Pros to losing the print edition:

  • no more layout
  • no deadlines
  • no more stressed teacher
  • more time in class to work on stories
Cons to losing the print edition:

  • no more layout
  • no more pizza
  • Jacob becomes infinitely more important
  • technical difficulties may ruin the plan
So... all in all, I think we will just press on and go with the flow. Hopefully we survive.
